Journalists: Have you ever wished you could stop getting bad pitches from marketers? If they actually knew you, they wouldn’t have sent you this irrelevant pitch. Right? Marketers: Have you ever wished you could just get a response from a journalist? If they would only hear you out, they would realize your pitch is great. Right? This month’s panelists have been on both sides of the pitch. No matter how much or little experience you have in journalism or media relations, you will learn new ideas and be inspired by this group’s passion for agriculture media. They will talk about: • What is a good pitch from a journalist’s point of view? • How does a marketer successfully earn media coverage? • How can we help each other succeed and move our industry forward? Panelists • Jackie Roembke is the editor-in-chief of WATT feed brands at WATT Global Media, including Feed Strategy and Feed Mill of the Future. She leads the strategy and development of content for multiple channels, including print, digital and video. • Walt Cooley is the VP of publishing and projects for Progressive Dairy and The Cow Tech Report newsletter. • Dusty Weis is the president and founder of Podcamp Media, a branded podcast production agency in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He has worked as a communications specialist in the public sector and as a news broadcaster and journalist. • Kelsi Mayer is a Wisconsin dairy farmer and associate PR director at broadhead, where she writes and sets content strategy for dairy businesses. She is a former corporate communications specialist and worked as an editor for Agri-View newspaper. Moderator • Ann Marie Ames is an account director at broadhead. Her marketing career has been focused on the commercial swine and poultry sectors. She is a former print journalist and broadcaster.
